The history of the Jersey Petanque Club has its origins in friendly games of boules on St. Ouen’s beach, progressing to more challenging encounters on campsites in France and culminated in regular gatherings of enthusiasts at the Old Portelet Inn before the club was eventually established in April 1986.
Four local residents had first proposed the idea for a club in Jersey and through the columns of the local Jersey Evening Post, they encouraged others to join them. The next event is the annual visit to Coutances over the weekend of 21st to 23rd August. For members not traveling to France, a turn up and play will be held on Sunday 23rd at 1.45pm. The results of the French trip will be on the site in early September. On the final Sunday of August the Club Triples is played and the next round of the Summer melee is on Sunday 6th September. The President's Trophy, postponed from 26th July will now be on 18th October.
