PBS MEN'S & LADIES TRIPLES COMPETITION
Defending Champions win again in both competitions.
The Men’s & Ladies Triples competition took place at the Club’s terrains on Sunday 17th August.
Eight Teams entered the Ladies competition and top came the 2007 winners, Rita Le Brocq, Joan Le Mercier & Linda Taylor, with six wins plus 29.
Second place was tied between Maggie Allchurch, Gill Fowler & Elaine Paisnel and Lilian de Gruchy, Joan Lewis & Mary Southwood,both with
four wins plus 16. After a one end play-off, Maggie, Gill & Elaine prevailed and came second.
In the Men’s competition, 10 teams fought it out over nine long games for first place. Eventually, Lawrence, Ian & Mick Rondel (also 2007 champions) came out on top with 8 wins, plus 53.
In second place were Ian Foster, Lyndon Lewis & Gerald Rolland with 7 wins, plus 10 and third were Peter Bastion, Alf Le Masurier & Keaven Taylor with 6 wins, plus 13.

PBS MEN'S & LADIES SINGLES COMPETITION
The PBS Mens & Ladies Singles competition was played at the Club’s Terrains on Sunday 27th July, on one of the hottest days of the year. In the Ladies Competition, 17 players competed in three groups. Winner of Group A was Betty Vibert, with 4 wins, plus 19. Group B winner was Lillian de Gruchy, 4 wins, plus 30 and the winner of Group C was Joan Lewis with 4 wins, plus 25. In the “Round-Robin” final, Loan Lewis beat Lillian de Gruchy 13-4 and then Betty Vibert beat Lillian 13-7. In the final match, Joan triumphed, 13-7. Final result: 1st – Joan, 2nd - Betty, 3rd - Lillian
23 players contested the Men’s competition, split into three groups. Winner of Group A was Mick Rondel with 7 wins, plus 45. Top in Group B was Colin Vibert with 6 wins, plus 36 and the winner of Group C was Lyndon Lewis with 6 wins, plus 35. In the round-robin final, Lyndon Lewis beat Mick Rondel 13-12 and the Colin Vibert beat Lyndon 13-11. In the last, decisive game, Colin took a 9-1 lead before Mick pulled back to trail 9-5. However, in the penultimate end Colin took three points to be poised at 12-9. The last end saw Mick holding one with two to play. His first was not placed but his last boule unfortunately promoted Colin’s, thereby giving Colin the game 13-9. The final placings were 1st - Colin, 2nd - Lyndon, 3rd - Mick |

JPC vs CARREFOUR - FIRST ROUND
The first round of the annual competition between the two clubs for the Birch-Caberet trophy took place on Sunday 13th July at the JPC terrains at Les Quennevais. Fifteen teams from each club played four games. In the first session, Jersey Petanque Club scraped ahead 8-7 but in the second session, fell behind after losing 6-9, meaning that on aggregate, JPC were two games down. A good third session result of 10-5 to JPC saw them pull ahead by three games overall. In the final session Jersey came out on top 9-6 meaning that they won the first round by 33 games to 27. The second round will be played at the Carrefour Terrains on Sunday 21st September. After the games, a barbeque was laid on for over 90 members of both clubs and it was good to see so many of Carrefour club stay on for the meal. |

PBS MEN'S AND LADIES' DOUBLES
The Men's & Ladies' Doubles competition was played on Sunday 22nd June and it was good to see so many people stay to watch two exiting finals.
In the Ladies' competition, 12 teams were divided into two groups, each playing five games. In group A, Maggie Allchurch and Elaine Paisnel were the only team to win all of their games. In second spot were Betty Vibert and Jenny Bowyer, who won three games with only a slightly better score than third placed Kath Burt & Phyllis Saunders. In group B, top place went to Georgette Bougeard & Ann Billot with four wins, plus 17, just ahead of Pru Vibert and Penny Foster with four wins, plus 15.
The game for third place saw Pru & Penny take a convincing win 13-0 over Betty & Jenny. The final was a tight game with Maggie & Elaine taking an early lead, only to see Georgette & Ann overtake them. In the end, some fine firing from Elaine gave them the game 13-12.
The Men's competition too, was divided into two groups, of eight teams. In group A, no one won all their games but Lawrence Rondel & Keaven Taylor came out on top with six wins, plus 26. In second place were Ron Le Herrissier & Alf Le Masurier with five wins, plus 31 just pipping Lyndon Lewis and Gerald Rolland and Thomas Glennie & Patrick Campbell with five wins, plus 25 and 24 respectively.
Group B saw Dennis Le Mercier & Gordon de Gruchy come out convincingly on top with seven wins, plus 47. The Pinels, Keith & Matthew were second with five wins, plus 29. In the third place play off Ron and Alf played consistantly to take the game 13-6. The final was an exiting game which appeared to be closer than the actual result. Dennis and Gordon started well and slowly and methodically pulled away to take the game 13-6.

PBS CLUB TRIPLES
The Club Triples were played on Sunday 25th May with competitors divided into three groups. In the Round Robin final, group A winners, Fred Paisnel, Tony Allchurch & Richard Fowler beat group C winners Keith & Matthew Pinel & Jeremy Grigg 13-6 and then the Pinels and Jeremy lost to group B winners, Penny Foster, Pru Vibert & Mick Rondel 13-3. In what was then effectively the final, Penny, Pru & Mick beat Fred, Tony & Richard 13-5. |

PBS WINTER MELEE
The results of the first major of the year were decided at the last round on Sunday 9th March. In the Ladies competition, first place went to Elaine Paisnel with 7 wins, plus 45, second was Maggie Allchurch, 6 wins plus 35 and Beryl Vibert was a close third with 6 wins, plus 34. Ron Le Herrissier won the Men's competition with 7 wins plus 54; second was Louie Bowen, 7 wins plus 50 and third was Matthew Pinel, 7 wins plus 32. |

PBS STABLEYARD DOUBLES
| The Stableyard competition took place on 20th April in what can only be described as unkind weather! 34 teams took part and after a great afternoon's play, Derek Hart & Fred Paisnel and Dorothy & Gordon de Gruchy were equal on 4 wins plus 32. After a play off of one boule each, Derek and Fred emerged the winners. Third place went to Ian & Jane Rondel with 4 wins, plus 31.
