GUERNSEY REGAIN INTER-INSULAR TITLE - 2007
In the 2007 Inter-Insular competition, played at the JPC’s terrains on Saturday 21st July, Guernsey regained the title they had lost in 2006.
The Jersey team that tried to retain the trophy but on the day, were not up to the task, were: Frank Morel & Robert Birch, Ken & Beryl Vibert, Niall Fennessey & Tim Bechelet, Joy Hart & Elaine Paisnel, Lawrence Rondel & Nancy Welsh, Mick Cotillard & Darren le Brun, Robin Stockton & Mary Fennessey, Bernie Birch & Ian Rondel, Neil Selby & Helene Retrosi, Joan & Denis Le Mercier, Louie Bowen & Derek Hart and Rita Le Brocq & Keaven Taylor.

The first round was played in the morning and was drawn at 6 games each. After a lunch break, the Guernsey team pulled into a slight lead taking the round 7-5. However, with 9 games won in round three, Guernsey gained a considerable lead, and they went on to win the final round 8-4 to complete a victory of 30 games to 18 and take the trophy back to Guernsey. The only Jersey team to win all their four games were Robert Birch & Frank Morel. Mick Cotillard & Darren le Brun and Ian Rondel & Bernie Birch each won 3 games and Louie Bowen & Derek Hart, Joy Hart & Elaine Paisnel and Robin Stockton & Mary Fennessey each won two. |
