On 1 June the JPA held the Island doubles championships at Samares Manor. 26 teams entered and while Joy Hart and Elaine Paisnel took their group on points (+25 to +20) from last year's winners, Gordon and Dorothy de Gruchy just beat their husbands (Derek and Fred) on points (+20 to +17) to take a place in the semi finals.

The de Gruchy's fought a tough semi, losing out to Rosie Boleat and Tony Lagadu 13-11, while Joy and Elaine won the other semi 13-6. In the final our club pair built a steady lead  winning 13-6 again to take the trophy.
