JPC MEMBERS IN COUTANCES 2006

 

Forty plus members of the club visited Countances over the weekend of 2nd to 4th September. After being entertained by their hosts on the Friday night, everyone met at the terrains in Agen-Coutanville on Saturday morning. After the usual aperitif, the mayor of Agen-Coutanville, ably assisted by Guy Brisson, playing the "straight-man" gave a welcoming speech.  Play then commenced, with one game before lunch.

After a break for an excellent meal, another three games were played. The final result was 31 games to Jersey and 21 to Coutances.

Highest scoring Jersey team were June Bastion & Dorothy & Gordon de Gruchy, with four wins, plus 35 and second were Doug Woodley & Hazel & Dave Le Moine, with four wins, plus 27. Third place went to Maggie Allchurch, Paula Foster & Joy Hart with four wins, plus 25.

On the Saturday evening, the Jersey members and their hosts enjoyed a Moroccan meal at a restaurant in Coutances, with entertainment in the form of a Belly Dancer. I understand that there is no truth in the rumour that certain Jersey ladies auditioned for the part! The Connetable of St. Ouen certainly enjoyed himself!
